Since graduating as a doctor at the University of Cape Town in 1989, Dr Carol Willies initially worked as a General Practitioner in a family practice. She then decided to specialise. Dr Willies worked at Groote Schuur hospital in 1994. She completed her Ophthalmology Specialised in 1997. She graduated with FCS Ophth UCT. Later that same year she successfully got her Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. Then in 1999 she spent a year subspecialising in Oculoplastic surgery in the UK. She then also became registered as a Specialist Ophthalmologist with the General Medical Council in the UK
On returning to Cape Town Dr Willies opened a private in Claremont at the Life Health Care Hospital. Dr Willies has rooms in both Claremont and Hout Bay. She has a special interest in Cataract, Glaucoma and eyelid surgery. She offers both functional and cosmetic Oculoplastic surgery. This includes the use of Botulinum Toxin Injections and Phyllis.
